A few years ago, I joined a pottery studio and found a method to bring to life all of these inanimate ideas, shapes, gestures into little round, functional ceramics pieces that carry my coffee, ferment our radishes and are little vessel reflections of many things that I’ve learned from the circle singing practice. There is something so soothing about a practice that goes round and round, steady and calm, soft earth melting into my hands, climbing upwards into cylinder, with a big empty space left in the middle meant to be shared with the next person who gets it. A ready canvas for little sketches and forms that linger with me – studies that think about what is in and on our bodies and health, genetics and cells.
This practice is on pause for now, but it was something I loved!
